A local historian, Edward Rea, wrote out in the 1920's a copy of the church records and J.E.Bassett has a copy of his work.
The earliest rental of the Maxwell estate, the local landlords, shows . 1742 Robert Gray and 1766 John Gray and partners with the church acre deducted from the rent. The Grays were gamekeepers on the Maxwell estate and lived close to the church.I am sure there is much more on the Grays in the Maxwell documents [ 3 000 items]in the Public Record of Northern Ireland
