Brought up by elder brother in New York known to have been a Mason.

Dr. James M Gray, became well known in American Christian circles as Dean of Moody Bible Inst. at the invitation of evangelist DL Moody in 1896. He succeeded Moody as Principal and died there in 1935. But is buried in the Bronx in New York. In 1911 worked on the Tercenternary Bible.
