Robert Gray served in the regiment's Company G during their 1861 Service.  This service lasted from 4-21-1861 to 7-30- 1861 and included the Battle of Bull Run (7-21-1861)

R. P. Gray served in Company G during its 1862 service.  This service lasted from 5-28-1862 to 9-2-1862 and included service in the fortifications around Washington, DC.

The fact that "Robert Gray" and "R.P. Gray" both served in Company G tells me that they are one and the same.

He died January 15, 1917, age 78 years (born 1839) Bronx Death certificate # 516.

In 1862 they served in the forts around Washington, DC and in 1863 they took part in the Pennsylvania Campaign with combat at or near Harrisburg, PA and near Chambersburg (the most famous part of the campaign was the Battle of Gettysburg).
