Rutty records the death of William Gray in 1736, an Elder of Ballyhagan Meeting. He had been an important Friend in the Meeting for over thirty years. "He is remembered for his consistency in life. He was given to hospitality, of a grave solid deportment, of a good understanding and a ready utterance, yet modest and diffident of his own abilities …He grew in his concern for the prosperity of the Church as he advanced in years."
