Middle son to James Martin Gray and Susie G. Brown.  Brother of James M II and Phillip, half brother to Hugh Barr Gray.

First Marriage to Dorothy S (1884 - 1980) in 1908. Possibility that Dorothy's maiden name is Spalding.  Dorothy born in Cambridge Massachusetts.  Rockwell is born in 1912 but by the 1920 census Curtis and Dorothy are divorced and Curtis has remarried to Mercedes born in New York with parents from Switzerland.  (Possibly his 3rd wife).  Francis is born from this marriage in1926.  By 1930 Curtis is no longer living with them and instead they are with a relative called Frances Jo Niswell (1892).  Additional wife was Lois.  Dorothy has a Sister called Sally who also lived in Rhode Island.
