Local Farmer Hans Gray left his property in trust to his sister, Eleanor Boyd, and at her decease to George Macartney in 1831.
* George was a United Irishman and joined the other, mainly Presbyterian farmers, who rose against the government because of punitive laws. Betsy is said to have joined him and both were said to have been murdered following the defeat of the rebels after being beaten in the Battle of Ballynahinch. A book about them was written by Lyttle of Bangor entitled, "Betsy Gray or the Hearts of Down.
