Banbridge; a ropemaker ; aged 20 joined the 65th (2nd Yorkshire North Riding) Regiment of Foot on 15 Jan 1855 & went to New Zealand to fight in the Maori Wars; arrived in Auckland, New Zealand on 'Lancashire Witch' (1386 tons) 1 Aug 1856 via Hobart, Sydney & Wellington under Capt. A.S. Mollison; discharged in Otahuhu N.Z. 9 Sep 1865
